Group Therapy

At Counseling Partners of Northern Colorado  we believe in the power of the group therapy dynamic.  There are several different types of therapeutic groups, including both process groups and psychoeducational groups.  Group therapy offers a unique approach to therapy by allowing the members to learn from each other as well as offer support to others – in turn, building resiliency, self-esteem and confidence.

Often we feel like we are the only ones going through our situation; but in group therapy, you are able to see that you are not alone.  In addition, the members often gain a sense of hope by hearing from the others in the group. By sharing their stories, their struggles and successes, group members can gain motivation, encouragement, and support.

For children and adolescents, the group dynamic offers a way to feel accepted, “normal” and part of a group.  At Counseling Partners of Northern Colorado we enjoy running groups for children and adolescents to address issues such as self-esteem, relationship issues, effects of divorce, ADHD, depression, self-harming, and body image issues.

In group therapy at Counseling Partners of Northern Colorado, we utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skill building techniques, art, games, play, as well as traditional talk therapy strategies.  Please contact us for information on our current and upcoming counseling groups.
